Weatherbugs are invited to join a contest to predict Anne Arundel County’s first snowfall and total snowfall for the winter.

The “Guess the Snowfall” contest is sponsored by the county’s Department of Public Works through its Facebook page,

For the first snowfall portion of the contest, participants should guess the date of the first snowfall of at least one inch in 24 hours at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. The deadline to enter is Monday.

For the total snowfall, participants should guess the total accumulation at BWI between Dec. 1 and March 15. The deadline to enter is Dec. 1.

The winner of the first snowfall contest will get to ride along in a county snowplow truck, while the winner of the total snowfall contest will have lunch with County Executive Laura Neuman and Christopher Phipps, the county’s director of public works.

The contest is open to Anne Arundel residents. In the event of multiple correct guesses, a winner will be randomly drawn.
