A 27-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of his cell phone while walking on the waterfront promenade in front of the Ritz Carlton Residences on Sunday evening, police confirmed.

Police said the victim was listening to music as he strolled the promenade at about 6:20 p.m. when a man walked up alongside him and asked what time it was. The victim said he didn't know, and the man asked him if he had a cell phone and continued to ask for the time, police said.

The victim did have a phone, and feeling uncomfortable, took it out to check the time, and the man began grabbing at the phone.

Police said a second suspect struck the victim repeatedly in the head from behind, and the two men got away with the phone. The victim was not seriously injured, police said.

The suspects were described as black males, standing about 5-foot-6 and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts. Police said they have not made any arrests.
