The Baltimore Fire Department has released the name of the man killed in the University of Maryland Medical Center fire last week as William Turner, born in 1950.

Turner, a patient at the hospital, was killed in a fire in his room late Friday night. The cause of the fire and cause of death are still under investigation, spokespeople for the fire department and the hospital said.

Mary Lynn Carver, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said the fire was contained to the one room and quickly extinguished. No one else was injured, she said.
