Repairs to Route 295 ramp to slow traffic headed to BWI

SHA encourages 'extra time to catch flights'

Motorists headed to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport from the south may want to "plan ahead and allow extra time to catch flights" this week and through the weekend, State Highway Administration officials warned Tuesday.

Temporary closures of the ramp carrying northbound Route 295 traffic onto eastbound Interstate 195 toward BWI will begin Wednesday night, the SHA said.

The ramp will close at 10 p.m. Wednesday and won't reopen until 5 a.m. Thursday as crews remove damaged concrete from the ramp, the SHA said.

The ramp will close a second time for new concrete to be laid and allowed to set beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday. It won't be reopened until 5 a.m. Monday, the SHA said.

A detour will instead direct northbound Route 295 traffic headed to the airport onto West Nursery Road, to southbound Route 295 and then to eastbound I-195, the SHA said.
