Quaranta scores winner for UMBC women's soccer

Sophomore forward Alexa Quaranta (Perry Hall) scored her second game-winning goal of the week as host UMBC (7-4-2, 2-1-0 America East) picked up a 3-1 win against Albany (1-10-1, 0-2-1)in women's soccer Sunday. The victory marks the first conference win for the Retrievers at home since Oct. 11, 2009.

More women's college soccer: Second-half goals from Towson (7-6-1, 2-2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) senior Emily Banes and sophomore Hollie Garber fueled a 2-1 comeback win over host College of Charleston (2-10, 0-2). Banes' tally was her 11th of the season, giving her 69 career points, two shy of setting the school record.

Women's college volleyball: Despite erasing a 2-0 deficit against visiting Virginia Tech (14-4, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), Maryland (10-6, 2-2 ACC) lost, 3-2 (25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 19-17)
