Baltimore police have identified a man who was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the city's Northwestern district.

Robert Jackson, 34, became the 17th homicide in that district so far this year.

Jackson was found early Saturday morning when officers went to the 5400 block of Crismer Avenue in the city's Woodmere neighborhood to investigate a report of an injured person. There, they found Jackson, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident but no further details were immediately available, according to Detective Jeremy Silbert, a spokesman for the department.

In a separate incident, a man was also shot in the leg in East Baltimore on Sunday at around noon, police said. The man was shot in the 2300 block of East Madison Street, in the Milton-Montford neighborhood, and was expected to survive.
