On Syria, Maryland's senators ignored the voters

September 17, 2013

I cannot believe that U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski decided to support the president in his proposed strike in Syria regardless of the wishes of the people in Maryland who put her into office ("Sen. Mikulski says she supports President Obama on Syria strike," Sept. 10).

She said she is concerned about the region's security, but that has nothing to do with our security here in the United States. It is sad that such a prominent figure in our state is just a political hack voting the party line as usual.

U.S. Sen. Benjamin Cardin, too, ignored his constituents and did what President Barack Obama demanded him to do.
