Traffic: Accident temporarily closes Route 295 in Laurel

September 10, 2013|By Kevin Rector, The Baltimore Sun

A crash on southbound Route 295 near Route 197 in Laurel temporarily closed traffic in both directions shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday morning while a Medevac helicopter responded to the scene to transport at least one injured person, officials said.

Traffic lanes reopened relatively quickly on the northbound side of the parkway after the helicopter departed the scene, but lanes remained closed for a longer period of time on the southbound side as crews cleared the accident, which sent at least one vehicle off the highway.

The accident had been cleared by 6:45 a.m., though the right shoulder remained closed.

Traffic in both directions was heavily impacted.
