Community input ignored on Mays Chapel school

September 10, 2013

Baltimore County Public Schools communications officer Mychael Dickerson recently said that "when we do any process that's going to impact communities, the community is going to give input at the beginning, not in the middle and not the end ("School system wants the public's help to solve crowding issue," Sept. 3).

And I assume it was with a straight face that he added: "For us it's just the way we do business."

As a board member of one of the many Mays Chapel North condominium associations that submitted hours of written research as to why the proposed elementary school is completely wrong for this particular site location — information that was completely ignored — I say: Yeah, good luck with that to any county neighborhoods that trust whatever is fed to them.
