Arundel flags to fly at half-staff to commemorate 9/11 attacks

September 10, 2013

Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman has ordered county flags to fly half-staff on Sept. 11 in honor of the nearly 3,000 men and women who died as a result of the terror attack on Sept. 11, 2001.

In addition to flags flying half staff, Neuman is asking county employees to observe a moment of silence at 9:58 a.m. – a minute before the collapse of the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

Also at 9:58 a.m., the county executive, along with Fire Chief Michael Cox and Police Chief Kevin Davis, will join with Anne Arundel police and firefighters at the  9/11 Memorial in front of fire and police headquarters in Millersville for a brief ceremony.

At the memorial, personnel will observe a moment of silence followed by a prayer by department chaplains.
