Big 3D shoot

Monday, Sept. 2: The Baltimore Bowmen will hold their final 3D archery shoot of the season from 4 p.m. to dusk. Large and exotic animal targets include elk, caribou, mule deer, bears, mountain goats and dinosaurs. Open to the public. Cost is $10, $5 for members. Directions:

Vingt-neuf archery

Aberdeen 'Streak'

Friday, Sept. 6: The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation will host its inaugural "Streak Thru Aberdeen" 7K run at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen on the anniversary of Cal Ripken Jr.'s breaking Lou Gehrig's streak of consecutive baseball games played. Proceeds will support Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation programs, which help build character and teach life lessons to underserved youth in distressed communities through sports-themed programming. Gun & outdoor show

Saturday, Sept. 7: The Baltimore County Game & Fish Protective Association will host a gun and outdoor show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on club grounds at 3400 Northwind Road in Carney. Admission is $2. Vendor tables are $10 each. For further information, call Rick Richmond at 410-335-5994.

Skating open house

Bike Tour

Saturday, Sept. 7: The Amish Country Bike Tour includes a stop at an Amish schoolhouse where locally baked pies are served. Online and mail-in registration ( will remain open through Wednesday, and cyclists may also register on the day of the event from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Mass start begins at 8 a.m. for the 15-, 25-, 50-, 62- and 100-mile loops. Each loop starts and stops at Legislative Mall in Dover, Del. Cost of the event is $60 per adult; $30 5-16; and free for children under 5.

Red/Trout tourney

Saturday and next Sunday, Sept. 7-8: Coastal Conservation Association Maryland's inaugural Red/Trout Catch & Release Tournament will be held in the Crisfield area. The event showcases improving speckled trout and redfish angling in the Chesapeake Bay. For information, go to

Hunter safety class

Next Sunday, Sept. 8: North Harford Game & Fish will host in-person registration at 2 p.m. at 834 Wheeler School Road in Whiteford for its Maryland hunter safety class. Classes will be Sept. 10, 12, 17 and 19 from 7 p.m. to 9:30. The final session will be Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Class size is limited to 50 students. Kent Island run

Sept. 22: Kellie Thompson Shiley 5K & Family Fun Run on the Cross Island Trail at Kent Island in Chester. Starts at 9 a.m. Cost: $30 for those over 12 for the 5K or 1-mile family fun run.
