Lighthouse tours

Tours of the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse will be held at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Aug. 24, Sept. 14 and 28. Visitors can learn about how lighthouse keepers lived, other lighthouses on the Chesapeake Bay and how many are still around. Tickets are $70 per person. Reservations required. Quiet Waters concerts

The Quiet Waters Park summer concert series, featuring a variety of musical styles, takes place at 6 p.m. Saturdays at 600 Quiet Waters Park Road in Annapolis. Admission to the park is free for the concert. Concessions will be available and visitors may bring food, blankets and lawn chairs. Alcohol is not allowed. Information: call 410-222-1777.

DCA world championships

Drum Corps Associates presents the 49th annual DCA World Championships Friday-Sunday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1, at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. More than 3,000 performers from the United States, Canada and Germany will compete in the "super bowl" of drum and bugle corps. Family camp

The Camp Letts Family Camp will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 2 at 4003 Camp Letts Road in Edgewater. Event is a weekend that includes paddling along the shores of the Rhode River in canoes and kayaks, sailing or just relaxing. Rates include lodging, meals and most activities. History presentation

Mavis Slawson, a textile historian and docent at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, will present a program on "Civil War Soldiers and their Quilts" at 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Captain Avery Museum, 1418 E.W. Auditions

•Auditions for Dylan Roche's adaptation of the Brothers Grimms' "Snow White" are open to ages 8-18 and will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. Audition will consist of cold readings from the script. The show will be performed the weekends of Oct. 11-20. In addition, auditions for Second Stage are open to ages 12-18 and will be held from 1 p.m to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 28. Prepare 16-32 bars of two contrasting musical theater numbers; bring sheet music or a CD with a karaoke song (no vocals, no a capella), and be prepared to dance.

•The Annapolis Youth Chorus will hold auditions for the 2013-2014 concert season from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at St. Anne's Church Parish House, 199 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis. •The Colonial Players will hold auditions for the musical "Annie" at 2132 Renard Court in Annapolis. The show will run Nov. 8-Dec. 7 at the theater in Annapolis. Auditions for adult roles will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, with possible callbacks on Wednesday, Aug. 28. •Anne Arundel Community College's theater department will hold auditions at 7 p.m. Sept. 23-24 for its fall production of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" in the Robert E. Historical research
