Juveniles charged in Clarksville vandalism [Crime Log]

The following is compiled from police reports. The Howard County Times includes descriptions of perpetrators only when the description makes identification possible.

Entry gained to abandoned commercial building in the 7600 block of Browns Bridge Road in Clarksville at 2:49 p.m. on Aug. 6 by breaking window. Interior vandalized with paint. Paint obtained by cutting open several paint cans. Paint spilled on floor. Old van on property set on fire. Attempts to set fire to building unsuccessful Three juveniles charged with second- and fourth-degree burglary, second-degree arson, trespassing, malicious burning, malicious destruction of property and attempted burning.

Ellicott City

Baltimore National Pike, 8500 block, 6:35 p.m. Aug. 8. Man entered store, ran up to clerk's window and pointed gun at clerk. Clerk, who was locked in booth, told man he was calling police. Clerk called police on cell phone and retreated to room behind booth. Man backed out of store. Nothing stolen. No injuries to clerk.

Church Road, 3500 block, between 1 p.m. Aug. 8 and 5:45 p.m. Aug. 10. Neighbor observed rear sliding door ajar. Walked through house and found cabinets open in several rooms. Minor ransacking in every room. Jewelry missing.

Montgomery Road, 4800 block, between 12 p.m. July 30 and 4 p.m. Aug. 10. Vacant house entered by breaking rear basement glass door. Copper piping throughout home stolen.


Montgomery Road, 7200 block, 2:10 p.m. Aug. 12. Officers respond to alarm and found rear doors of Cindy's Skylight Liquors pried open. Rear doors led to cooler. Point of entry to store could not be determined. Computer system with surveillance video taken. Cash removed from unlocked safe.

Washington Boulevard, 8800 block, 3:16 a.m. Aug. 10. Officer called to Woody's Liquor Store when passerby observed front door glass shattered. Two cases of beer removed from cooler. Two bottles of vodka stolen.

Savage/North Laurel

Decatur Road, 9300 block, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 8. Glass basement door broken. Cash from desk drawer and electronic gaming system stolen.

Foundry Street, 8600 block, 3:12 a.m. Aug. 8. Man jumped over locked gate on second floor of Savage Mill and walked down staircase to Antique Store. Gold and platinum rings stolen.

Autumn Grain Gate, 8500 block, between 7:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7. Rear basement door was pried open to gain entry. Jewelry, electronic tablet and gym bag stolen.

West County

Chester Way, 10500 block, 7:05 p.m. Aug. 10. Victim believes known suspect broke into home using spare key. Three rings taken from jewelry box.
