Gausman allows four runs in Triple-A Norfolk game

Right-hander Kevin Gausman’s ERA at Triple-A Norfolk crept back over the seven mark Saturday night, as he allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two in 4 1/3 innings pitched against Rochester.

His ERA in four games (three starts) with the Tides this season is 7.13. Rochester jumped on him for two runs on three hits in the first inning, including an RBI double.

Over the next three innings, Gausman would allow one hit and one walk and avoid any major trouble. He pitched his only 1-2-3 inning in the fourth, recording both of his strikeouts that inning.

In the fifth, however, Gausman allowed a leadoff triple, and the runner scored on a one-out single after Gausman got a pop out and walked the third batter of the inning. With runners on first and second, Gausman’s day was done. He was charged the fourth run of the game after reliever Daniel McCutchen allowed the runner on second to score.

Gausman threw 84 pitches in the outing, 51 of which went for strikes.
