Woman aboard sailboat rescued after complaining of heat exhaustion

July 20, 2013|By Justin Fenton, The Baltimore Sun

A 55-year-old woman suffering from heat exhaustion on a sailboat near Annapolis was taken by Medevac on Saturday to a nearby hospital for treatment, the Coast Guard said.

Around 12 p.m., someone aboard the sailboat, which was one mile south of the Thomas Point Lighthouse, contacted the Coast Guard about the woman's symptoms.

A boat crew aboard a 29-foot response boat from the Coast Guard's Annapolis station transferred the woman aboard, and she was transported to Anchor Yacht Basin in Selby-on-the-Bay where waiting emergency crews took her to Anne Arundel Medical Center.
