Artscape road closures to begin Monday

Festival expected to draw about 350,000 people to area around MICA

Road closures will begin Monday in advance of this weekend's Artscape festival in the area around the Maryland Institute College of Art, the Baltimore Department of Transportation said.

Several streets will close Monday, while more will be closed later in the week, said officials, who encouraged the use public transportation to reach the event. The arts festival is expected to draw about 350,000 people to the area.

These streets will be closed at 7 a.m. Monday through 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 23.

•Mt. Royal Avenue between North Avenue and Charles Street

•Cathedral Street between Preston Street and Mount Royal Avenue (garage access only)

•Preston Street between Cathedral and Howard streets

•Oliver Street between Maryland and Mt. Royal avenues (local garage and post office access will be maintained)

•W. Lanvale Street from Mt. Royal Avenue to Rutter Street

•W. Lafayette Avenue from Rutter Street to Mt. Royal Avenue
