Schmidt gets another year as county school board chief

 Towsonattorney Lawrence E. Schmidt was reelected president of the Baltimore County school board Tuesday night and David Uhlfelder was voted in as vice president. Both will serve one year terms.

 Schmidt, who joined the board in 2009, was first elected president in 2011, the year the board decided not to give former Superintendent Joe A. Hairston a new four year contract. Hairston retired a year ago. 

  Uhlfelder was just reappointed by Gov. Martin O'Malleyto a second five year term that begins this month. Uhlfelder is a Pikesville resident and accountant. Schmidt, a Timonium resident, attended public schools in the county.
