The search is expected to resume Friday for a 24-year-old man, who went missing during the holiday while swimming in the Magothy River.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department was called at 6:10 p.m. Thursday to look for the man, who had gone underwater after he jumped into the river from a boat which was floating between Gibson and Dobbins Islands,

Officers from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department marine unit responded to the distress call, where they interviewed seven people aboard the 20-foot vessel, according to Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle.

After searching the river fruitlessly for more than two hours, the search was temporarily halted at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Swindle said. As of 7 a.m. Friday, crews were on the scene preparing to resume the search.
