BOWIE — With the end of his rehab stint in sight, Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold went 1-for-4 for Double-A Bowie on Friday night with a walk, a run scored and a strikeout.

Manager Buck Showalter said before the Orioles’ game against the New York Yankees that he hopes Reimold will join the team for its flight to Chicago on Monday, which begins a six-game road trip.

“You’ve got to come off the DL at some point in time, so looking forward to it, looking forward to getting back up there,” Reimold said after the Baysox defeated the Harrisburg Senators, 6-4.

In his first two at-bats, Reimold grounded out to third base, including a 5-4-3 double play to end the third inning. But in the fifth, Reimold walked on a 3-1 pitch to load the bases in a three-run inning that tied the game. In the seventh, Reimold laced a single to center field on the first pitch of his at-bat. He came around to score on catcher Caleb Joseph’s go-ahead two-run home run. He struck out swinging to end the eighth in his final at-bat.

“Still getting comfortable hitting,” Reimold said. “My first two at-bats I kind of just gave away but my last three I felt a lot better. I feel like I’m on the right path and I’ll be all right.”

Reimold initially struggled in his rehab assignment, starting out 2-for-27. But he has hits in his past three games and is 6-for-15 in that span. He hasn’t played in the majors since May 11 against Minnesota, and he was batting .188 in 31 games.

“I’ve had a lot of time off. … I’m not looking up at the scoreboard looking at my average or anything like that because that’s not what I’m here for,” Reimold said. “I’m here to get ready and help the team win but also get comfortable and get ready to play again.”
