Two Pennsylvania men were arrested Saturday in connection with an Ocean City shooting.

Ocean City Police said the incident happened near 18th Street and Coastal Highway shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday. Two men were in the swimming pool at the Islander Motel on N. Philadelphia Avenue when they and a group of people walking by on the street began arguing, police said.

The men got out of the pool and confronted the group on the street, police said. One man then allegedly took out a handgun and shot two people.

One male victim was found shot and injured, and then was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another was "shot through his clothing" but not hurt, police said in a news release.

Police said charges were filed against Elvin Jovany Mendez-Espada, 21, of Reading, including two counts of first-degree assault and first-degree attempted murder, and a handgun charge.

Carwin Duarte, 19, of Reading also was arrested in connection with the incident, and his charges include second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

The shooting remains under investigation.
