If there was one thing Orioles fans were accustomed to since last August, it was the presence of Manny Machado manning third base.
Since his call-up on Aug, 9, 2012, Machado had played every possible inning of every game with the Orioles.
But in the fifth inning of Thursday night’s contest against the Cleveland Indians, Machado was ejected for arguing with home plate umpire Will Little. It snapped a streak of 1,206 consecutive innings played by Machado to begin his major league career. He’s played 130 consecutive games.
Machado struck out swinging on a 1-2 curveball that dove away from the right-handed Machado and into the dirt. As he walked back to the dugout, Machado exchanged words with Little, and he was ejected.
