Police should live in the city they serve

June 21, 2013

A hundred years ago, when policemen lived in the neighborhoods they served, they had a vested interest after their shifts to be on the lookout for anything out of place on their way home. Today, most of them don't live in the city and some don't even live in the state.

Since the Baltimore City Council passed a bill that city contractors must hire 51 percent of new employees from city residents, maybe it should pass a bill that policemen who work in the city must live in the city as well.
