Israel under the gun

June 21, 2013

Iran is well on its way to becoming a nuclear power — and it is doing so with the stated objective of destroying the Jewish state of Israel.

Despite having only limited access to Iran's nuclear facilities, the International Atomic Energy Agency of the United Nations has confirmed that Iran has made monumental strides in enriching uranium and producing plutonium. Both pose an existential treat not only to Israel but to U.S. allies in the Middle East.

As one of the top five oil producers in the world, and with sufficient reserves to meet all its energy requirements, Iran does not need nuclear power, nor would it suffer crippling sanctions to obtain it were it not for its desire to possess a nuclear weapon.

Israel is under the gun, but the world either can't grasp that fact or, worse, doesn't care.
