A man who died after being cut by an assailant several times Saturday marked Baltimore's 100th homicide of 2013, police said Sunday.

Police said they were called to the unit block of North Rosedale Street in the city's South Hilton neighborhood about 11:45 p.m. and found a man, later identified as Jamal Diggs, 33, suffering from several cuts to his extremities.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries. No additional information was immediately available, and police did not identify the weapon used.

In 2012, the city marked 100 homicides on June 20, four days later than this year's grim milestone.

Another man was fatally shot in the 2300 block of Riggs Avenue on Saturday afternoon — the 99th homicide of 2013 — but police have not yet released his identity. Three other people were shot Saturday in two separate incidents, though they are expected to survive.
