ATV crash in Carroll County kills one, critically injures another

A 43-year-old Frederick woman was killed and her passenger critically injured after the ATV she was driving in Carroll County struck a tree on Sunday afternoon, Carroll County Sheriff's deputies said.

The Sheriff's Office identified the woman as Stacey Ranee May and her critically injured passenger as Wilson Henry McCraw Jr., 52, of Mount Airy.

The crash occurred in the 2800 block of Flag Marsh Road at around 3:30 p.m., and deputies said the ATV left the road and struck a utility box before hitting a tree head-on. May was pronounced dead on the scene.

McCraw was in Maryland Shock Trauma Center on Sunday night in critical condition with potentially life-threatening injuries, deputies said. An investigation into the accident is underway.
