Plant and bake sale

The Cross Country Garden Club will hold its annual plant and bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4, at 9041 Chevrolet Drive. A variety of annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, and home-made baked goods will be offered for sale. Information: 410-992-7680.

Blood pressure screenings Stop in from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at the Ellicott City Senior Center, 9401 Frederick Road, for free blood pressure readings by a registered nurse. Information: 410-313-1425.

English conversation The Miller branch of the Howard County Public Library, 9421 Frederick Road, offers "Let's Get Together: English Conversation Club," a chance for those for whom English is a second language to practice speaking and understanding English in a group setting. The club meets at 7:45 p.m. Wednesdays. Register with the library before your first meeting. Information: 410-313-1950.
