Great music has been happening at the Parkville Senior Center.

On April 3, members were treated to a wonderful concert when tenor Rodrigo Garciarroyo and pianist Richard Dowling presented well-known opera and stage musical selections in the center's dining room

This hourlong program, sponsored by the Baltimore County Department of Aging, was made possible by the Piatigorsky Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to make live classical music in informal settings wherever people gather, in retirement communities, schools, churches, libraries, museums, community centers workplaces — and even prisons

The foundation will again present a concert at the Senior Center on Monday, May 6. See you there!.

More musical entertainment will be coming to at the center with "April in Paris" on Tuesday, April 30, at 1:15 p.m. Join Laura Numsen for an imaginary stroll down the Champs Elysees for sightseeing, and listening to the melodies of Yves Montand and Edith Piaf

Christus Victor Lutheran Church at 9833 Harford Road will hold a yard sale on Saturday, May 4, from 7 a.m to 1 p.m. — with refreshments available — to benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Spring finally made its hot and dazzling debut a couple of weeks ago, and now. 'tis the season for the roar of lawn mowers, the stink of fresh mulch, and runny noses. Lucky, my ever-vigilant "doggie in the window" prefers chomping on grubs and other slimy critters she finds in the grass to her healthy, nutritious dog food

Michael, my son — also my technology consultant and grass cutter — will celebrate a milestone year on May 9 by blowing out 40 candles on his birthday cake (That is, if someone gives him one) Happy birthday, son .This public announcement is your birthday card from Mom.
