Carson coverage shows media at its worst

We have read and heard on a continuous basis from the national media outlets the distortion of the words used by Dr. Benjamin Carson in discussing his stance against gay marriage ("Dr. Ben Carson steps down as speaker at Hopkins graduation," April 11). If one heard or read his remarks, he did not compare marriage between two people of the same sex to those who engage in bestiality as the media would have us believe.

We ask, where is the fair, honest and unbiased reporting from those who call themselves journalists in this country? Why would the national media try to destroy a famous, well-respected, gifted neurosurgeon who has spent his career healing and saving the lives of babies and children from around the world and give little or no news coverage to a baby killer by the name of Dr. Kermit Gosnell who for 30 years ran a women's clinic in Philadelphia and is now being charged with the death of one adult and seven babies born alive only to have him sever their spinal cord with scissors, along with local reports of up to 100 more.

How can students at the world renowned institution of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, privileged to have such a gifted surgeon on their staff, ask him to step down as speaker at their commencement ceremonies because of his belief against gay marriage? Is this same institution willing to return the millions and millions of dollars donated to them by Saudi Arabia, so much that they have named one of their buildings after a Saudi Arabian king, when the majority of their country is of the Muslim faith which is also against gay marriage?

Finally, where is the media also in reporting the decline in an educational system that has failed so much of our country's children, and in the unbiased reporting of the failing economy in our country due to our dysfunctional government leaders?
