Orioles notes on Miguel Gonzalez, Wilson Betemit, Brian Roberts and more

April 07, 2013|By Dan Connolly | The Baltimore Sun

The Orioles have listed their probables for the Boston series and Miguel Gonzalez is not on the list. We’ll ask Buck Showalter after the game today as to why he is skipping Gonzalez – or pushing him back to the Yankees series.

Wilson Betemit was in the clubhouse on crutches today. He said he is relieved that arthroscopic surgery did not show any further damage in his right knee. He will head to Sarasota, Fla., Wednesday to begin rehab. He said he expects to be evaluated in about a month to get a better idea of when he can return.

Brian Roberts (hamstring) is expected to leave Baltimore today for Sarasota and the organization’s minor league complex to rehab. He is out roughly three weeks.

Taylor Teagarden and Alexi Casilla make their first starts for the Orioles today. Matt Wieters, Nate McLouth and Ryan Flaherty are on the bench.

Pop star Carly Rae Jepsen threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Tommy Hunter before the game. It was high and outside. Call it a ball, maybe.
