Pleasant weather is in the forecast Thursday before rain arrives overnight, though temperatures are still expected to be well below normal, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunshine and calm winds are expected during the day, with highs in the lower 50s. Clouds could start moving in by the afternoon, bringing rain expected to start overnight.

Rain is expected to continue into Friday morning but to taper off quickly in the Baltimore area as a low pressure system is pushed off the mid-Atlantic coast. About a quarter of an inch of rain is expected.

Beyond that, clear skies are forecast Friday afternoon and evening, with highs around 60 degrees.

The weekend is expected to bring a warm-up. While highs in the mid-50s are expected Saturday, a warm-up to the mid-60s is expected Sunday.

Next week, temperatures could top 70 degrees.
