Recruiting notes: Mount St. Joseph sophomore Carter commits to Mercer

Junior attackman Lacaze of Sts. Peter and Paul picks Hobart

Shawn Carter, a sophomore attackman-midfielder from Mount St. Joseph, has orally committed to Mercer.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound recruit plays for Chesapeake Rock, attending Summer Sizzle, Rider MVP, Baltimore Summer Kickoff, Tri-State, UPLax and Loyola Shootout camps, where he was an All-Star. He also plays basketball.

Carter also considered UMBC, Towson, Villanova and Lehigh.

Junior commitment

Attackman Alex Lacaze of Sts. Peter and Paul in Easton has orally committed to Hobart.

As a sophomore, Lacaze notched 25 goals and 52 assists, setting a single-season program record for assists for the MIAA B Conference champions. He was named All-Conference in both lacrosse and hockey, the only sophomore to do so. A member of the Annapolis Hawks, Lacaze attended Baltimore Summer Kickoff, UPLax and Crab City Challenge.

He also considered Dartmouth, Villanova, Towson, High Point and Jacksonville.
