Five local basketball players head to Italy for U.S. Elite Select Tour

Five Baltimore area boys basketball players were recently selected to participate in the U.S. Elite Select Basketball Tour in Italy this week.

St. Frances senior forward Tevon Saddler, The Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Player of the Year, will be joined by Glenelg Country junior forward Chancellor Barnard, St. Vincent Pallotti junior center Tariq Owens, Calvert Hall sophomore guard Drew Edwards and Mount St. Joseph sophomore guard-forward Bryce Thurston on the 12-man team.

The team will participate in the Junior International Tournament in Milan, Italy, from Friday through April 1. The under-19 event includes teams from all over Europe.

"I'm excited to be part of this team and learn from some great coaches," Edwards said in a news release. "I'm looking forward to testing my talents against the best players in Europe."
