Chesapeake Urology Associates' Sankar Kausik, Named Chief of Urology for Upper Chesapeake Medical Center

Chesapeake Urology Associates, P.A., one of the nation's largest urology groups, has announced Dr. Sankar Kausik, M.D., F.A.C.S., has been named Chief of Urology for the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, part of Upper Chesapeake Health, an affiliate partner with the University of Maryland Medical System.

Kausik has practiced at the Bel Air facility for more than 10 years.

Kausik is the 11th Chesapeake Urology physician to serve as Chief of Urology at a major Baltimore area hospital. In addition, three other physicians serve as chief in other specialty areas such as surgery or as medical directors of independent medical centers.

Kausik received his undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and subsequently earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He completed his urological surgical residency and fellowship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, where he also served as instructor in 2001. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Kausik has several clinical interests including urologic oncology, with a focus on prostate cancer, benign prostate conditions and minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia, kidney stone disease (surgical and medical management), sexual dysfunction, incontinence and voiding dysfunction. He has published and presented numerous papers at regional and national urology conferences and remains active in clinical research with Chesapeake Urology Research Associates.

A resident of Bel Air, Kausik practices at Chesapeake Urology's Harford County offices, at 201 Plumtree Road in Bel Air and 251 Lewis Lane in Havre de Grace.
