Recruiting notes: Freshman Guerin orally commits to North Carolina

Freshman attackman Michael Guerin of Kent (Conn.) School has orally committed to North Carolina, joining a select group who have chosen a college before making their official high school debuts.

Guerin, a left-hander, is a member of the New England Select Lacrosse League 2016 Black team, according to the league website. He also played on the NESLL under-15 team that took fifth at the US Lacrosse U-15 National Championships last summer. Guerin is a member of the U-15 national team that will compete in Florida this summer.
Kent will play its season opener March 30 at Canterbury.   Junior commitments

  • Attackman Jason Kelly of Salesianum School in Wilmington, Del., has orally committed to UMBC. The 6-foot-2 left-hander plays club for Team Man Up and started as a sophomore for the Sallies.
  • Attackman Casey Grieves of Saints Peter & Paul in Easton has orally committed to Hobart. As a sophomore, the lefty tallied 64 goals and 35 assists for the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference champs, scoring six goals in the championship to earn MVP honors. Playing with the Annapolis Hawks, he attended Baltimore Summer Kickoff, UPLax, Crab City Challenge and Top 205. Grieves also considered High Point, Jacksonville, Loyola and Denver.
