Could the path to the pot o’ gold be paved with pawprints? Two local animal shelters think so, and they’ve invited you to special St. PAWtrick’s Day parties to find out for sure.

You are invited to The Humane Society of Harford County’s headquarters at 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, for the wearin’ o’ the green and a special party that just might bring you a world of luck. Things kick off with a Parade of Dogs at noon that will show off all the pups available for adoption.

Don’t miss an Irish dancing performance at 1 p.m., and be sure to participate in the rubber ducky races, beanbag toss, Frisbee toss, and face tattoos, along with a bake sale that’s sure to make your mouth water.

If you meet your lucky charm, you’ll get to pick an adoption discount from a special pot o’ gold -- save $10 to half off your adoption! Adoptions include rabies vaccines, first set of distemper shots, de-wormer, flea and tick preventative, microchipping, and a health exam for your new pet. Visit for more information.

The Maryland SPCA will celebrate Find Your Lucky Canine Adoption Day on St. Patrick’s Day as well. All day Sunday, adoption fees will be halved to $62.50 for medium and large dogs, and that fee includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and de-worming. Meet your match at 3300 Falls Road, Baltimore, and visit for more information.

Molly (pictured above) is a 5-year-old American bull mix who will be available for adoption for half price at the Maryland SPCA on Sunday. Is she your lucky charm?
