Susquehanna Flats

Tuesday, March 12: Captain Richie Gaines will discuss tips and tactics for fishing the Susquehanna Flats when he speaks at the March meeting of the Northwest chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association. The event will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Patapsco Council No 1960 Knights of Columbus Hall at 1010 Frederick Road, Catonsville. Use the Beaumont Avenue (side) entrance. Fly Fishing Film Tour

Friday, March 15: Great Feathers Fly Shop in Sparks and Trout Unlimited will host an event showing extended trailers of the latest fishing, conservation and destination films coming out this year at Center Stage in Baltimore at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $17 at Great Feathers or $20 at or at the box office. Sea kayaking introduction

Saturday, March 16: The Chesapeake Paddlers Association will sponsor "SK 101: Intro- duction to Sea Kayaking," a one-day seminar, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the West River Center in West River. Fishing, boating market

Saturday, March 16, and next Sunday, March 17: Fishing and Boating Flea Market. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Sunday. Commodore Hall, 1909 Old Eastern Ave., Essex. Fishing seminar

March 18: Local angler Skip Zinck will discuss preseason catch-and-release trolling tactics for large rockfish in the Chesapeake Bay at a seminar hosted by the Broadneck/Magothy River chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at American Legion Post #175 at 832 Manhattan Beach Road, Severna Park. Lure selection, locations, planer boards and ideas for the trophy season will be covered. Planer boards, flags and lures will be available for purchase.

Smallmouth bass

March 20: Mark Fondroff and Brenda Foster will share their knowledge of smallmouth bass fishing on the Potomac River at a meeting of the Maryland Trout Unlimited from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Towson Presbyterian Church. The public is welcome.

Terrapins and the Bay

March 21: Will Williams, an educator at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center, will give a free talk about the Chesapeake Bay, its surroundings and the terrapins that inhabit the local waters. 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Terrapin Adventures, 8600 Foundry St., Savage. Light refreshments will be served.

Gun and outdoor show

April 6: Baltimore County Game & Fish Protective Association will host a gun and outdoor show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on club grounds at 3400 Northwind Road, Carney. Admission $2; children under 12, free. Vendor tables $10. Information: Rick Richmond, 410-335-5994.
