The CBS Sports Network does some drum beating for March Madness Monday night with "The Miracles: The 1988 Kansas Jayhawks," a documentary about how an underdog team won the national championship that year.

Known as Danny and the Miracles, because of star Danny Manning, Kansas upset the Oklahoma Sooners for the championship.

There are a couple of local angles worth noting in the film that marks the 25th anniversary of that championship.

One of the producers is Tamiko Bullock, a graduate of Morgan State University. And University of Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon was one of the assistant coaches on that 1988 Kansas team. It was Turgeon's first coaching job after graduating from Kansas in 1987.

The one-hour documentary debuts at 8 p.m. Monday on the CBS Sports Network.

Note: This is not the CBS broadcast network, which is seen on WJZ (Channel 13) in Baltimore, where many of the Baltimore Ravens games are shown.

This is a CBS-owned cable outlet that can be seen at channel 732 on Comcast in Baltimore City.
