March 06, 2013|From Sun staff reports

Led by three goals apiece from veteran Adauto Neto and rookie Lucas Roque, the Blast earned a 22-13 victory in Game 1 of the Major Indoor Soccer League semifinals Tuesday night against the host Chicago Soul.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Saturday night at 1st Mariner Arena. If the Soul wins, a 15-minute mini-game will immediately follow to determine which team advances to the championship against the Milwaukee Wave or Missouri Comets.

The Soul jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Blast fought back to take a 6-4 lead by the first-quarter break and never looked back. The teams traded goals in the first 12 minutes, with Marco Sullo opening the scoring just after the two-minute mark and Roque tying the game at 2. Carlos Farias regained Chicago's lead at 4-2, but Roque scored his second goal of the quarter to tie it again and Adauto Neto put the Blast on top 6-4.

Neto extended the Blast lead to 8-4 in the second quarter, and Carlos Munoz answered, cutting the Blast lead to 8-6.

The Blast took control in the third quarter as Neto completed his hat trick and Machel Millwood added a goal to make it 12-6.

In the fourth quarter, the teams combined for seven goals and 17 points. Lucio Gonzaga struck first, making it 14-6, before Ptah Myers continued his scoring streak with a short-handed three-point goal at the 9:02 mark to give the Blast a 17-6 lead.

Roque's next goal completed his hat trick and make it 19-6 just nine seconds before Chicago's Pablo DaSilva recorded a three-point goal to cut Baltimore's lead to 19-9. Tony Donatelli added a three-point goal before Carlos Munoz knocked in the last two goals of the game to make the final score 22-13 in favor of the Blast.
