Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches opening in Abingdon

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches will open its first shop in Harford County this week in the Constant Friendship Shopping Center in Abingdon.

The shop is slated to open Tuesday, March 5.

The company specializes in fresh, quality products and high-speed execution, according to its corporate website.

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shops was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in a converted garage in Charleston, Ill. Since its inception, the company has grown to more than 1,500 corporate and franchised locations throughout the United States.

Colliers International in Baltimore, a full-service commercial real estate firm, brokered a lease for Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches to occupy a 1,455-square-foot unit at 3454 Emmorton Road in Constant Friendship Shopping Center. Colliers - Baltimore represented JJ Wolf Pack LLC, which owns the franchise.

"We're pleased to bring the first Jimmy John's to Harford County," Michael Kauffman, associate with Colliers – Baltimore, said in a news release. "We zeroed in on an excellent location for Jimmy John's, benefiting both the company and consumers in Harford County."

Constant Friendship Shopping Center, located near the I-95 and Route 24 interchange and the junction of Routes 24 and 924 and Tollgate Parkway.

The shopping center is within a 12-minute drive of 70 percent of Harford County's population, the news release notes. Merchants at the shopping center include Homegoods, DSW Shoes and Gabriel Brothers clothing store.

Brooks and Goldman Realty owns Constant Friendship Shopping Center.
