Something really important to me for the wedding is to make sure my mom is honored in a special way.

As a little bit of background, my mom was a single mom most of my life and raised three kids (eventually four but the littlest came much later), while going to school and working full time. Somehow she managed to raise us all to be strong individuals who can succeed at anything we put our mind to. I think having to deal with hard times made her a better mom, and I wouldn’t change a thing about how she raised me if I could.

Being an adult I see the struggles my mom dealt with and also have a better understanding of the reasoning beyond the way she raised me. And I respect her for it. The things she taught me led me to where I am today and made me the person that Sam wants to marry.

So I feel like for that (among a million other things) my mom deserves to truly be honored (and rewarded) for getting me to this point.

All in all this day is her day, too! It’s a day for her to be celebrated and to celebrate the accomplishment of raising a child and being strong enough to do it on her own.

So what do you get for a woman who has given you everything? That’s where the hard part comes in. How do I find something meaningful enough to show her how much I respect her as not only a mom but also a woman? If you have any thoughts, please send them my way!

(If you’re reading this, I love you, Mom!)
