Mixed martial arts training facility to open in Bel Air

Mixed Martial Arts has come to Bel Air. Ground Control – Bel Air, an MMA training and fitness center, is celebrating its official grand opening and open house on Saturday, March 9 from 1 to 5 p.m.

The new facility is at 305 S. Atwood in Bel Air. The afternoon will feature professional fighter seminars and training sessions, autographs sessions, local celebrities, select vendors, music, food and many give-away items, including tickets to an upcoming Shogun event at the First Mariner Arena. Attendees will also have an opportunity to register for unique programs at a special introductory offer.

Ground Control – Bel Air features a 20-foot MMA Octagon cage, 5,500 square feet of training space (including 2,000 square feet of Zebra rolling mats), a striking area with various Fairtex heavybags, striking bags, battle ropes, cardio and free weight training area, locker room, mirror system and a variety of other training amenities.

"Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest growing sport in the United States," founder John Rallo said. "Whether someone wants to begin exploring the competitive sport or they just want to get in terrific shape, this facility will meet their needs. I am very impressed by the new facility and its amenities; it will compliment Ground Control's neighboring facilities and 500 members in Baltimore, Owings Mills and Columbia."

Instructional programs include Mixed Martial Arts classes, striking classes and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training. High-level instructors include Renzo Gracie-trained black belts in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, experienced striking coaches and fitness professionals.
