One person was killed and another seriously injured in a car crash Tuesday evening in Baltimore County, police said.

County police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said the crash occurred about 8:20 p.m. near the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Caraway Road in Reisterstown. Police did not immediately have information on the victims. The injured person was taken to Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.

Wachter said a Chevy Traverse traveling west on Reisterstown Road crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a Toyota Corolla, killing the Toyota's driver instantly. A third vehicle, a van, was also sideswiped amid the crash, but the van's driver was uninjured.

The Traverse came to a stop after it hit a pole, and Wachter said the driver had to be extricated from the car.

Crash investigators are looking into the incident.
