I am writing to inform you of my feelings toward the proposed assault weapon legislation (SB Bill 281 and HB 294.) I must advise you that I have never felt more threatened or terrorized by my state government than I do right now.
I am a law-abiding, tax-paying citizen of the state of Maryland, and I cannot believe the amount of gull and anti-intellectual thought that must have gone into writing these bills. The people who wrote these bills have absolutely no fundamental understanding of our God-given rights laid out in the United States Constitution.
The Constitution establishes the fact that these rights are unalienable, God-given rights not government-given rights. Therefore, our government does not have the power to infringe on any of these rights in any way, shape or form.
It troubles me to read the word "license" in both of these bills. Since when do I need a license to practice my God-given right? In the future will I also be required to obtain a license to practice my other God-given rights. How about the right of freedom of religion?
I guess I will have to sit through a "government sanctioned" class to obtain my freedom of religion license. After which I can stand up and proclaim, "Hooray, now I can practice any government approved religion I wish because now I have a license."
Actually, we can save a lot of money if we lump the Government Sanctioned Freedom of Religion License class with the newly formed Government Sanctioned Freedom of Speech License class. These classes can be held on the same day, with a food break around lunch of course.
Are you kidding me? You people have lost touch with the integrity and principles this country was founded upon. Eventually these oppressive Marxist ideas are going to bite us all in the butt. But thats par for the course as mankind has had to relearn the lessons of history all over again countless times throughout our existence.
