Traffic Morning commute snarled by accidents, including two with injury
Several accidents, including a fatal crash in Baltimore County, hampered Thursday morning's traffic, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The morning commute became snarled at 5:41 a.m., due to a deadly accident involving three vehicles that closed all lanes and both shoulders of the Interstate 695 inner loop near Belair Road in the Overlea area of Baltimore County, DOT said.
One adult was killed in the accident, and at least one adult and one child were injured and transported to area hospitals in critical condition, a Baltimore County Fire Department dispatcher confirmed.
The left-hand shoulder of the outer loop is also closed, as were both ramps from Belair Road onto northbound and southbound Interstate 695. Lane closures remained as of 7:35 a.m.
An accident with injury on MD 147 near Richmond Avenue around 7 a.m., in the Carney area of Baltimore County closed the northbound right exit ramp and southbound right exit ramp at 7:12 a.m.
An accident on Interstate 70 near Exit 91 (I-695) in Howard County closed the right exit ramp. DOT also reported an accident on I-95 at Exit 55 (East McComas Street) near Riverside in Baltimore County around 7:35 a.m., but offered no additional details.
