A crash involving several cars temporarily shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 83 during Wednesday evening's commute.

The crash occurred about 4:45 p.m. near the Guilford Avenue exit, and officials were encouraging drivers to stay away from the area. The scene had been cleared as of about 5:20 p.m., but officials warned that traffic would remain delayed for some time.
