Man shot in head dies; another man shot in back

One man was killed and another injured in a double shooting in southeast Baltimore on Tuesday night.

At about 9:25 p.m., police responded to investigate a report of gunshots north of Patterson Park in the 600 block of N. Milton Ave. While searching the area, they found a man shot in the head in the 2500 block of Monument Street. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:08 p.m.

As of Wednesday morning, police had not identified the man, who they have listed as a "John Doe." A 34-year-old man was also shot in the torso and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He has non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said both men were walking in the 600 block of Milton when they were approached by an unknown suspect who shot them. Police have no suspect description or motive. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 with information about the shooting.

There have been 10 homicides in Baltimore in 2013.
