Poll shows Obama, O'Malley approval remains strong: Maryland's predominantly Democratic voters continue to approve of the jobs being done by President Barack Obama and Gov. Martin O'Malley and support an assault weapons ban, according to a new poll released today.

Ravens fever starts its spread in lead-up to Super Bowl: Baltimore is coming down with a case of Ravens fever, known to cause purple vision and unbridled joy. In the meantime, area florists are ordering extra purple flowers. Babies will be swaddled in purple blankets, and adults in freshly printed commemorative T-shirts and Ray Lewis jerseys.

Troubled transition shuts down city speed cameras: Baltimore's speed and red light camera system has experienced a near-complete shutdown during what city officials are calling a problematic transition to a new contractor, records show.

Arundel police corporal says, 'You don't tell Mr. Leopold no': An Anne Arundel County police corporal told a judge that County Executive John R. Leopold told him to watch a cash box at a political fundraiser, to plant campaign signs for him, and to compile a dossier on his 2010 challenger.

U.S. debt limit vote set for Wednesday: A measure to extend the U.S. debt limit for nearly four months moved closer on Tuesday to a vote and the White House said the president would sign the bill if it cleared Congress, easing uncertainty that could have threatened the economy.


RAVENS: Minutes after toppling the Patriots in the AFC championship, Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell pointed out that his collaboration with Joe Flacco is just beginning.

Peter Schmuck: Joe Flacco has swum through that quagmire of public doubt and come out clean, only to face a whole new level of scrutiny and comparison when Flacco gets to New Orleans.

TERPS: Going down to the last minute, Maryland escaped with a 64-59 victory over Boston College at Comcast Center that helped the Terps avoid their fourth loss in five games.
