Obama second term renews expectations

January 14, 2013

As a Muslim-American, I am excited this year to witness another presidential inauguration. I am a firm believer in the democratic process because it embodies the values of justice and equality by allowing people of diverse backgrounds to decide the presidency. Therefore, the president must adhere and uphold such values, especially since he is himself of a diverse background. President Barack Obama promised hope and change to get away from unpopular foreign and economic policies. However, his first term left much to be desired for many, domestically and abroad. But his reelection says people still believe.

Therefore, I congratulate President Obama on his reelection, and I pray for his and our nation's success. I implore him to continue to strive to uphold and adhere to these values and continue to preserve general welfare and equality in the U.S. and the world.
