Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

January 11, 2013|By Matt Bracken | The Baltimore Sun

SBNation posted an update this week on the recruitment of former Terps linebacker pledge Yannick Ngakoue.

Ngakoue's recruitment is primarily focused on two schools, though he says "Maryland is somewhat in it a little but."

"It's Florida State and South Carolina right now."

** Archbishop Spalding lineman Mike Williams, a former Maryland commitment, plans to sign with Villanova, according to the Washington Post.

Spalding Coach Brian Propst said Williams’s commitment to Maryland, which lasted about a week in June, did not work out because the Terrapins had offered him as an offensive lineman, and Williams hoped to play defense at the next level. But Williams said Thursday there were other factors involved in his de-commitment, though he declined to discuss them.

** Justin Jackson, a 2014 small forward from Texas who claimed a Maryland offer, narrowed his list of schools this week to Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Virginia and Washington.

** Terps women's commitment Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 40 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Monday in Hopewell's 86-20 win over West Allegheny (Pa.). On Thursday, she scored her 2,000th career point.
