Cockeysville Newsmakers: Local residents on the move

Carol Cooper, of Cockeysville, recently became a member of Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler LLC.

An ARD&H associate since 2002, Cooper has achieved Martindale-Hubbell's AV Preeminent rating. She was selected twice as a "Rising Star" by Maryland Super Lawyers and named in Washington D.C. & Baltimore's Top Rated Lawyers 2012 Edition.

Serving in the firm's family law and litigation practice groups, she represents clients in matters related to divorce, custody, visitation, child support, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, adoption and other civil litigation.

A past chair of the Family Law Committee of the Bar Association of Baltimore City and a frequent contributor to local family law publications, she regularly acts as a volunteer settlement facilitator for the Circuit Court for Baltimore's Family Law Division.

Having completed comprehensive training in both basic mediation and interdisciplinary collaborative practice, she is expanding her practice beyond litigation to include mediation and collaborative law.

Outside of the firm, Cooper serves on the Maryland State Bar Association's Lawyer Assistance Program Committee and the Fundraising Committee for the Tuerk House Inc., a nonprofit which helps Baltimore-area individuals, families and communities who are struggling with addiction. She also is a member of the Women's Bar Association of Maryland, the Baltimore County Bar Association and the BABC.

The wife and mother of two earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Union College, and a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
